New Interim County Manager

April 29, 2008

Once again Gates County has yet another Interim County Manager, Paul Gregory Jr., replacing Melinda Hoggard, who abruptly resigned last month for personal reasons. Gregory, who recently retired from the position of Perquimans County manager, has already expounded on his intelligence, by commenting on the proposed placement of our Navy's Outlying Landing Field (OLF). According to Linda McNatt of the Virginian-Pilot, Gregory said:

"It's a lot of noise, and we don't get any money out of it. In Perquimans, we fought hard. Now, it's not going in Perquimans County."

Obviously, Interim County Manager Paul Gregory Jr., has not done his homework. First the OLF will bring 52 jobs to Gates County, with an average salary of $50,000 annually. I wonder how many jobs Interim County Manager Paul Gregory Jr. will create?

It is also quite apparent that Interim County Manager Paul Gregory Jr., has not studied the demographics of the county, or he would have known that federal spending in Gates County equals' an approximate $5821.00, on every man, woman and child. Of course this does not include the security afforded by our nation's national defense, which allows him to make these uninformed statements such as, "we don't get any money out of it."

Yes, Gates County, you have another leftist interim county manager – good luck.
