Gates County
News -- 6/01/08, Today a shooting took place at
Eason Crossroads County Mart 4:48 P.M.. The victim, a young
male, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, two shots hit the victim's buttocks
while one shot entered his lower left side, and one shot entered his left hand.
The suspect shooter, 26-year-old William Jason Payne
escaped the scene in what was reported as a brown sedan two
door Mazada 929. The victim was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA
due to unavailability of immediate Nightingale emergency air
transportation.
Let's talk about land, taxes and
property rights? hummm. First of all, you will need a copy of the current
Zoning Ordinance and the CAMA Core Land Use Plan. These two documents are
key elements to understanding the reason for our Gates County local
government's incessant need to keep adding a land transfer
tax referendum to every election, especially when 60% of the
registered voters are against the tax. Finally, the significance of these two
documents in regards to taxation can be
found in this letter. Maybe we should call this magazine,
